do you have to have a dsl connection for the bridge

Mac Pelao

I use both Shibby Tomato and DDWRT... both are great...but the the main feature I prefer DDWRT over Tomato is the wireless repeater capability... although you can achieve this in Tomato, DDWRT is much simpler and less hassle than Tomato...but for most everything else, I prefer Tomato as the rest of the things seem to bee simpler than DDWRT...but both are great.

Hey quick question, with the repeater router I'm assuming I have to set it up and connect it to the modem/main wifi router and connect my computer to it first before I go about setting it up as a repeater?

Hello, can you repeat a wifi signal that you have coming into your home, but the signal isn't coming from any modem connection at your home, can you increase this signal and send it to another room so that another device can pick up the signal, such as a smart tv?

I need help. Me and my friends want to make a LAN party, but we also want to have an internet connection, most of my friends will be bringing laptops so they can access the main router which is on the first floor of the house using a wifi connection (This will allow them to be on the same local network as all the other ppl with laptops). But the problem is that some of my friends will be bringing desktops and we don't have cables long enough to go through the window. Is it possible to connect the desktops… Read more »

Can a raspberry pi be used as a repeater or bridge?

Kevin Varughese

I'm lost, I followed each step, but when I connect to the newly created WiFi, it says connected, but no Internet access. What am I doing wrong? It's giving out the signal, but there's no Internet access, someone please help.

This destructive escapade bricked my router 👍

Good, but I could do better. I use Tomato Shibby because of my
equipment. Using a Asus RT-N12 D1 (access client only) to grab a open
weak signal 75 meters away with many large obstacles. Have it feeding
another router (AP) on a non-overlapping channel to avoid interference.
Watching this video @ 360P with only a -75 to -85 RSSI. Kicking AP's off
the target's channel is a whole other story.

2:16 just like if you had an Ethernet cable that could span the earth. around the world in 88 Ethernet days...

2:46 you could... just like light. (which is how fiber works) it'd just take longer to get out there. it wouldn't be instantaneous.

Thanks! Now my €500 desktop pc witch is just 2 years old can finnely go on the Internet without having to fix some stupid bug with my wifi adapter that constantly turns off my wifi!

Realy really realy thanks dude.

Can this boost signal from repeater tower? I have mobile internet at home and using phone as router. But signal is bad due to distance of repeater tower (3,5km) and I get very slow 3G with occasional disconnects. Thanks

Ordigamer

Under wireless mode, instead of repeater and repeater bridged, I have WDS station and WDS AP, are they te same?

So if you don't see the name of yiur router than it is not supported ? Mine is d-link dir-300N B6

Followed video to the "T". My repeater will connect to primary router but has no internet. This video leaves off important info on DNS, up addresses, ect.

everything went fine except i can't use the rebroadcasted internet — my devices say they can't connect to the server when i try to go to any websites

Just the right amount of complexity to clearly establish what needs to be done. Very good video. Thanks

2:40 TO WIRELESS BRIDGE? DONT YOU MEAN REPEATER BRIDGE?

Victor Kelly

I've seen ethernet to USB cables, is there a way to use that to make your router use the internet from your phone by using one of those

Arak Rachael

Thank you for the video, but its not enough, can you please make it with more steps on how to install exactly, especially since its linux packages.

Fmart1953

Hi. Thanks for the sharing. What is the difference if I use a cable from the main modem/router (which is wireless) to another used router and use that router as wi fi router with option to connect a pc via ethernet cable?
Thank you
